QS certification of food packaging is expected to be implemented within this year. Food safety starts from packaging. Recently, it was learned from the annual meeting of Guangdong Packaging Technology Association that China will strengthen the certification and Accreditation of food packaging products. In the second half of this year, China will implement a mandatory product certification management system for food packaging products, that is, a QS market access system for food packaging products. Insiders believe that this certification will be the first compulsory market access certification system for food packaging products enterprises in China, which will have a significant impact on food packaging production enterprises. According to dongjinshi, vice president of the special committee for plastic recycling of China Plastics Association, since last year, the national safety and environmental protection certification for food packaging and containers has mainly targeted various food packaging/container products, including 21 categories and 139 products, including plastic products, paper products, composite packaging, metal packaging, ceramic packaging, etc. This year, the state will issue the mandatory QS certification standards and Implementation Rules for the food packaging industry. Among them, the certification will take the lead in the implementation of plastic packaging, paper packaging and composite packaging products in the food and beverage industry. However, the share of plastic food packaging in food packaging in China is rising, and its speed is faster than that of paper food packaging. Dongjinshi believes that this is the first time that China has implemented a compulsory market access certification system for food packaging.
